How can I test this panel?
What does this panel contain?
What this test measures: This test measures omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in serum, which is the liquid part of your blood after it has clotted. The fatty acids in serum change with what you have eaten in the last days, so the result shows your recent intake.
How it differs from the Omega-3 Index in red blood cells: The Omega-3 Index in red blood cells shows your average over about three months, and its values are usually higher than serum values. For that reason a serum result and a red blood cell result cannot be compared, and each one is read against its own range.
Which sample we analyse: Most samples are analysed in serum. If your sample is analysed in red blood cells, your results name red blood cells beside each value.
Conditions: Cardiovascular disease risk, inflammation, cognitive aging, low omega-3 intake.
Symptoms: Dry skin, joint stiffness, mood changes, poor recovery, low omega-3 dietary intake.
Who it is for:
- People with low fish or seafood intake.
- Those tracking inflammation or cardiovascular prevention.
- Anyone supplementing fish oil who wants to verify dose effect.
Test frequency: Every 6 to 12 months; sooner when starting or adjusting supplementation.
Reference ranges and methodology align with the following sources.
- DGKL. Reference ranges follow German clinical-chemistry guidance.
- ISO 15189:2022 medical laboratories. Our partner lab is accredited to this standard.
How much does it cost?
An add-on to the 199 €/year Aniva membership. If you are privately insured, you can submit our itemised invoice to your insurer, and whether it pays depends on your tariff.

We have 25+ partner locations across Germany. After signing up, you can choose your preferred location and book an appointment directly through our platform. See all locations at anivahealth.com/locations.
Your samples are processed by our certified medical partner laboratory in Germany, which follows strict quality controls and is regularly audited. All results are medically validated by a medical director and specialist in laboratory medicine to ensure the highest accuracy and reliability. For specific diagnostics like omega fatty acid profiles, samples are sent to specialized partner labs because there are fewer than 5 labs in Germany that test omega fatty acids.
Aniva works with a certified German partner lab that complies with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and is consistently audited. There may be a small natural variance on each marker, which is standard for any laboratory. If a blood marker is significantly off, we retest it or connect you with a doctor. Our comprehensive testing is 7x more extensive than a standard medical checkup, providing a much more complete picture of your health.
Yes. You can download a PDF or share a link directly from the Aniva platform. Your results are formatted to be easily understood by any healthcare provider.
It depends on what you want to test and how often. We'll advise through the action plan what makes sense — for most people that's 1–2 tests per year. Follow-up tests happen at one of our partner practices (venous blood draw), typically the one you visited the first time. Your action plan will recommend which markers to retest based on what's critical to monitor, what changed in your last test, and what needs extra attention.
The action plan and biomarker overview is designed to be understandable without medical training, and every marker comes with a personalized recommendation. We also offer optional consultation calls with a physician as a paid add-on if you want deeper clinical context.
